LG Twins starter Im Chan-kyu was ejected from the game for a head shot after failing to record an out in the first inning.
Im started the 14th game of the season against the NC on July 27 at Changwon NC Park.
In the bottom of the first inning, with runners on first and third and nobody out, he threw a 144-kilometer fastball to Park Gun-woo that hit the ear and chin guard of Park’s Gladiator helmet. Park went down for a moment, causing concern. But he managed to get to his feet and make his way to first base before being replaced by pinch-hitter Yoon Hyung-jun.
As Im Chan-kyu came off the mound and looked worried, Park patted him on the back and reassured him as he made his way to first base. Im was immediately ejected for a head shot. However, he got the next batter, Kwon Hee-dong, to foul out to the catcher and Do Tae-hoon to ground out in front of first base to double up the runners at second and third to end the inning with minimal damage.
After giving up back-to-back singles to Son As-seob and Park Min-woo in the top of the first and a walk to Park Gun-woo, Lim was removed after nine pitches, giving up two hits and a walk. 안전놀이터
The loss was doubly disappointing as he had been on a roll in August, winning four games in a row and posting double-digit wins for the first time since 2020. He may have been a little overwhelmed, as he pitched the day after suffering a come-from-behind loss in the ninth inning when his bat was hit by an umpire, ending a game he had won.
Meanwhile, Park Gun-woo, who was pulled from the game, went to the hospital for a checkup. In the fifth inning, an official from the NC announced, “As a result of the examination, we received a report that there is no major abnormality except for a slight dizziness.”
