Retired Athlete Reveals “Angels, they didn’t give me breakfast in spring training!”

The Los Angeles Angels have been going through a depressing time with the injury-plagued departures of star players Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, and a new revelation adds fuel to the fire.

Retired two-time All-Star C.J. Walsh took to Twitter on Thursday to reveal just how much of a shoehorned organization the Angels were during his playing days.

Most notably, he revealed the lack of support for players in spring training.

“In 2012, breakfast wasn’t served until the second week of spring training. We didn’t even have a weight room until 2013,” he said, claiming that even basic things like breakfast and a weight room were not provided to players. 메이저사이트
“We’d tell them, ‘Run hard to first base and you’ll be in good shape,’ or ‘Be ready to train at 8 a.m. If you need something to eat, go get a Chipotle. If you need something to eat, stop by Chick-fil-A,” Wilson said, again criticizing the poor conditions at the Angels.

That’s not all, he adds, because when Albert Pujols, the team’s biggest star at the time, asked the organization to buy a zero-gravity treadmill to train with less lower-body strain, the team said no because it was “too expensive.

According to him, the treadmill Pujols was pushing for was priced at $70,000. That’s not a lot of money, but it’s not what a major league team would call “expensive.

In the end, the Angels gave in to Pujols’ request by loaning him the equipment.

Wilson, who drew attention for his good looks during his playing days, made his debut with the Texas Rangers in 2005 and played 11 years in the big leagues, earning two All-Star honors.

The Southern California native signed a five-year, $77.5 million contract with his hometown team before the 2012 season.

In four seasons, he went 51-35 with a 3.87 ERA in 119 games before a shoulder injury ended his career.

The Angels were still managed by current owner Arte Moreno at the time.
