NC Dinos’ ‘new face’ Tanner Tully (29) will make his first start.
NC will start Tanner on the mound against the Hanwha Eagles at NC Park in Changwon on April 15. It will be Tanner’s KBO debut in an NC uniform as a substitute.
NC released Taylor Widener on April 4 and signed Tanner for a total of $200,000 ($150,000 salary-$50,000 option) to bolster its mound.
Widener, who joined the organization ahead of the season, has been up and down, going 4-2 with a 4.52 ERA in 11 games. He seemed to come alive with two runs in six innings against the KT Wiz on March 28 and one run in seven innings against the Lotte Giants on March 3, but that wasn’t enough to reverse NC’s decision.
Tanner is winless in three major league appearances, allowing four runs in six innings. In the minors, he has a 44-51 record with a 4.18 ERA in 159 games (131 starts).
NC general manager Lim Sun-nam said, “Tanner is a left-handed pitcher who has been a consistent starter. We expect him to be more stable as a starting pitcher,” he said.
Tanner’s performance could change where NC ends up this season.
NC, which hadn’t attracted much attention before the start of the season, has been fighting for a mid-table finish despite the departures of key players such as Koo Chang-mo and Lee Jae-hak.
At the center of it all is ace Eric Peddie. With a 15-4 record and a 1.96 ERA in 20 games, Pedi has been dominant, leading the league in both wins and ERA.
If Tanner can quickly adapt to the KBO and perform at his best, NC will be able to be more competitive in the standings with the one-two punch of Peddie and Tanner. 메이저사이트
As of the 14th, NC is in fourth place, two games behind the third-place KT Wiz. They have a one-game lead over the fifth-place Doosan Bears.
Tanner will face Hanwha’s Felix Peña in the first game of the day in the KBO.
Peña, who is in his second season in the KBO, is 8-6 with a 3.19 ERA in 21 games this year. Against NC, he is 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA in three games.
