Lee ‘dedicated to set-pieces + 75% dribbling success’ on official debut…Messi thinks Ligue 1 ball home→ but PSG draw 0-0 with Lorient

Lee Kang-in made his official debut. He came off the bench and played around 80 minutes, showing a lot of physicality, and also served as a set-piece kicker.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) drew 0-0 with Lorient in the opening match of the first round of the 2023-24 French Ligue 1 at the Parc des Princes in Paris, France, at 4 a.m. ET on Wednesday.

PSG deployed a 4-3-3 formation on the day. Lee, Hamus, and Asensio lined up up front, with Vitinha, Ugarte, and Zaire-Emery forming the midfield. The back four was a combination of Lukaku, Skriniar, Danilu and Hakimi, with Donnarumma in goal.

Lorient countered with a 3-4-3 formation. Le Bree, Dieng, and Favre started in the back three, while Le Gouffe, Makengo, Abergel, and Kalulu played in midfield. The back three was Talbi, Laporte, and Meite, with Mbogu in goal.

It was the official debut of Lee Kang-In. Lee has been in a PSG shirt this summer. His stock skyrocketed last season with Mallorca, where he scored six goals and provided six assists in 36 games in Spanish La Liga. His dribbling skills were among the best in Europe’s top five leagues.

Several teams expressed interest. At first, Atletico Madrid seemed to be the favorite, but talks with Mallorca broke down over the transfer fee. PSG then emerged. PSG had just lost Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos and were looking to make a change under new coach Luis Enrique.

In early July, the transfer of Lee Kang-in was officially announced, and he started the first pre-season friendly against Le Havre shortly thereafter. He looked lively, but was soon subbed off with an injury. As a result, he missed all three matches of the Japan tour. Luckily, he returned to Busan and came on as a substitute in the final match against Jeonbuk Hyundai. 안전놀이터

He then made his official debut against Lorient. Lee started as a left-back, but he was also active on the left flank through switching play with Asensio. He also worked diligently on the right side to create scoring chances, mainly with Hakimi and the other midfielders such as Vitinha and Zaire-Emeri.

He even attempted a shot in the 15th minute. Lee tried his luck with a left-footed shot as he cut in from the right to the center, but was blocked by the defender in front of him. He also tried a turnaround shot as he burst into the penalty box at the start of the second half, but was also blocked by the defense.

Lee also made his presence felt on set pieces. He took charge of kicking corners and free kicks and showed off his kicking ability. While he didn’t have any free kicks directly on target, he continued to supply quality crosses, which didn’t lead to any decisive chances due to the thick defense of Lorient.

According to soccer stats site Fú, Lee played around 80 minutes on the pitch, taking three shots and touching the ball 85 times. He also attempted 59 passes, completing 52 of them for an 88% passing success rate. He also made one key pass.
